The reason I know this is true because my father was a wheat farmer and the only time I remember him getting upset with my sister and myself was when I was around the age of 8 and we smashed dad's wheat to the ground when we thought it would be fun to play hide and seek and fox and goose in the wheat field. Unfortunately, once wheat falls to the ground, it is impossible to harvest. The wheat was tall then. I remember in the 80's the wheat suddenly only grew to be 18" and it wasn't the golden color I remembered when I was smaller. This wheat was dull; but dad, just like everyone else, liked this fast yielding wheat because the risks of losing the crop was lowered from wind and hail. He had no idea at that time, the health risks it would bring to future generations.
Anyway, if you are looking for a good book to read this summer, get it. Dr. Davis does give good adivce and options to get the nutrition we need to stay fit and healthy. Lynette
