Hi Everyone – this is my grandson, Jax, who just turned 5. His mom is a personal trainer as well and I thought this story of a child’s view of what “eating healthy” looks like was very interesting. Enjoy!
Jax had a good day at school! Aaron got home from work and so Jax and I went to the store together. I told him he could pick out a treat. Look what he picked!? The funny thing was I didn't want to spend $4 on a package of weight watchers brownies (my thought is if you're going to go bad, go all the way). Processed is processed no matter how "healthy" the label says. So it was funny because I told him he needs to pick something else but he argued with me because it was helfey (as he would say) and he wanted to eat it because it was healthy.
Okay, what message do you see here?

1) Did Jax really want to eat it because it was healthy or did he figure
that he could get a sweet treat by convincing mom it was healthy? or
2) Did Jax really want a healthy treat for his reward? or
3) Did Jax want diet brownies so he could have more than one to eat? or
4) Does he really get it? I can have my treats and they can be healthy, too!
What would your answer be when you deserve a treat today? Lynette
