In the year 2000, our last son was going off to college and Rick and I became empty nesters. It had been so much fun watching our 2 boys grow up and sports was definitely our lifestyle for many years. But when Aaron left for school, I realized I wasn't happy with my current career path and I got fat; so I decided to take the leap of faith into the fitness industry and pursue teaching Fitness Classes. Unfortunately, I was not fit! Okay, I have a big problem here. I've got to lose about 35 pounds if I'm going to do this and by December 15th . This is August 15th. Can I do it? Am I nuts? How am I going to do this?
It started with a plan. I got my calendar out and mapped it all out. That was the easy part. The hard part, sticking to the plan, no excuses! I didn't have time to slip up! I gave myself one treat a week and that was a tailgate party at my son's college before his football game. That was it - but it was something I looked forward to each week.
I did reach my goal by December 15th, passed my test and began teaching Fitness Classes immediately. Wow, at the age of 45 I couldn't believe I did it! As you know, since then I have expanded my fitness goals and continue to set new goals for myself. I am always looking at an event or something on my calendar to keep me motivated and on track. My challenge for you for the month of March is to do the same. Weight loss and fitness goals just don't happen - you make them happen!
As a final note, I just want to remind you that whether you were successful or unsuccessful in February, you are a very beautiful person just the way you are. Look at yourself in the mirror today and be proud of the way God made you and the gifts and blessings He has given you! Lynette
